Our partners at GO Transit will be providing an important teaching for children about Rail Safety two days a week starting this October at the Kids' Safety Village. The program can be geared to students of grades 1 through 6, making the learning age-appropriate. Students will learn about how and where to properly and LEGALLY cross Rail Road Tracks, and the messaging provided by signal arms, crossing gates, warning lights and bells.
This program runs from October until the end of June. Classes are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
From late November to March, when getting outside is difficult, the classes are approximately 60 minutes in length, to coincide with the grade 1, 5 and 6 programs, and normally run three times a day (twice in the morning and once in the afternoon).
During October and early November, and from April to June, an outside component is added, and classes are 90 minutes in length, to coincide with the grade 2, 3 and 4 programs, and normally run twice a day (once in the morning and once in the afternoon).
**PLEASE NOTE** There is a maximum of 30 children per classroom. If you wish to bring two classes at once you must choose a complementary program that happens simultaneously on the same day, for example, police, EMS or fire safety. Then the two classes can switch for the next session. This allows you to get more learning value for your students during your trip to the Safety Village.
Also, if you are booking several classes please use the actual teachers' names as the registrants for those classes in the comments section. This helps us keep our records straight! If you are unsure, please call us at 905-668-9893 and we'll be happy to walk you through it.
