NEW For Grades 5 and 6
The classes will be 60 minutes long and will help the students learn how to help themselves, their families, and their communities prepare for an emergency, and what to do if they find themselves in the midst of one.
Students will learn how to gather emergency supplies and how to write an emergency plan. Aside from the valuable learning involved, there is also a "perk" or "incentive" for teachers and students.
When a class takes the course here at the Village, and then goes back to school and each student completes a family emergency plan and creates a home emergency kit with his or her family.
Teachers will keep track of their class progress on this project, and when all students in a class have completed the two-part challenge, the whole class will win a pizza party, courtesy of DEMO.
