One day each March Break the Village opens its doors to children from across the Region to participate in fun, interactive safety learning in a camp-style atmosphere. The annual event is sponsored by Ontario Power Generation.
This year’s event was held on Tuesday, March 12th, from 10am-2pm. Programs and activities were aimed at school-aged children, but hundreds of families turned out to enjoy a day of safety learning together. The free, drop-in event, held inside and outside, was enjoyed by over 600 people, and all participants went home with lots of safety information and materials to review with their families.
Shown above: Peter Mohyla and Donna Fraser from Metrolinx as well as Joel Webb from VIA Rail interacted with community members in attendance to provide safety information. The full-sized GO Transit double-decker bus was well received by event attendees.
Thanks go to OPG, as well as local community partners including Go Transit (Metrolinx), Fire Services, Via Rail, and numerous service clubs who all worked together to make it a great day for families. See you next year!
