Join the Fire Department for a fun, interactive and educational lesson at the Kids' Safety Village. Students from grades one to three will learn about some of the top causes of fire in the community, as well as fire prevention techniques, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, home escape planning and general fire hazards. This program will run from October until the end of June. The classes are offered on Wednesdays.
From late November to the end of March, when getting outside is difficult, classes are approximately 60 minutes in length, to coincide with the police, EMS and rail safety programs aimed at students in grades 1, 5 and 6, and these normally run three times a day (twice in the morning and once in the afternoon).
During October and early November, and from April to June, an outside component is added, and classes are 90 minutes in length, to coincide with the police, EMS and rail programs aimed at students in grades 2, 3 and 4, and these normally run twice a day (once in the morning and once in the afternoon).
**PLEASE NOTE** There is a maximum of 30 children per classroom. If you wish to bring two classes at once you must choose a complementary program that happens simultaneously on the same day, for example, police, EMS or rail safety. Then the two classes can switch for the next session. This allows you to get more learning value for your students during your trip to the Safety Village.
Also, if you are booking several classes please use the actual teachers' names as the registrants for those classes in the comments section. This helps us keep our records straight! If you are unsure, please call us at 905-668-9893 and we'll be happy to walk you through it.
