Calling all families! Each year on the Saturday of Easter Weekend, the Safety Village offers a fun-filled day of Easter Egg Hunts, Face Painting, Games for the kids and a visit from the Easter Bunny himself! Plus, check out all the little buildings which will feature safety displays from local community organizations, and chat with our Regional Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator as well as representatives from the Ministry of Transportation, Road Watch, Fire Services, Go Transit, Bell Canada and other community partners! Local businesses decorate the windows of the buildings in the Village. And there is a fundraising BBQ operated by our local Lions Club (nominal cost for hot dogs, treats & drinks). All the children will take home chocolate treats!
The event is always free, however should you wish to bring along non-perishable food items for our local food bank or cash donations for the operation of the Safety Village, these would be most welcome!
The Kids’ Safety Village is located at 1129 Athol Street in Whitby, next door to Sir William Stephenson PS (plenty of free parking available at the school). There is also a limited amount of accessible parking close to the entrance of the Village.
Gates open at 10:00am and close at 2:00pm!
Sponsored by Bell Canada, Lovell Drugs, Sweetsby’s Canada Catering and Gifts, Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood, Lions Club of Whitby, Ajax Optimist Club, Durham Regional Police Service and all of the volunteers of the Kids’ Safety Village of Durham Region.
