New First Aid and CPR program coming to the Village

We are working with our partners at Durham EMS to develop a hands-on training program for students in grades two, three, five and six which will be taught by a local paramedic.  Grade two and three students will learn about the basics of first aid, see the equipment used by paramedics while learning about their profession, and get a tour of the inside of a working ambulance.  **Please note:   this is not a certification class, but rather a general overview of first aid safety.  This program will be offered from early October to end of November, and again from early April to end of June.

Students in grades five and six will get an introduction to CPR, with a chance to practise their skills in a fun, hands-on environment.  Using a "gamefied" approach, students will be able to build their confidence in doing proper chest compressions, and how to rescue someone who is choking.  **Please note:  this is not a certification class, but rather a general overview of CPR.  This program will be offered from January to the end of March.
